Dear Cathedral Family,
On this fifth Sunday of Lent, we will welcome Jeanie Kienzle as our interim organist and choir director. Recently retired from many years of work as a full-time musician in Episcopal churches, Jeanie will provide musical leadership for us through the remainder of Lent, and then Holy Week and Easter, until our new full-time Cathedral Organist and Music Director Josh Coble joins us for the final week of April. I know that you will all welcome her warmly and that you will share with her our gratitude for her interim service.
Jeanie has been working together with Cathedral clergy and staff in preparing for Holy Week and Easter, and you can learn more about these plans in this email and on our website. This is one of the most challenging and rich and rewarding seasons of our shared life in the Church, and I am thankful for the talented and hard-working people who work together here to support our life as the people of God.
Looking beyond Easter Day, into the whole Great Fifty Days of Easter, there will be many other celebrations in our life together. On the first Saturday in May, we will host the ordination of four new deacons for our diocese. The next day, Sunday, May 4, will be our annual Cathedral Celebration, when our bishop joins us for his annual parochial visit, including baptism and confirmation. The next Sunday, May 11 (which is also Mother’s Day) will be Youth Sunday, when we will honor our high school graduates in a service led by our amazing young people.
We have so much to be thankful for as the Cathedral Family, and as we move more deeply into this holy season, I look forward to worshiping and serving our Lord with you all.
Faithfully,
Beverly+
