Dear Cathedral Family,
This Sunday morning the time will change, as we “fall back” into standard time. Enjoy your extra hour of rest before coming to be part of our All Saints’ Sunday celebration.
The day begins with service, as volunteers gather in the servery at 8:30 a.m. to pack lunches for the Loaves and Fish distribution on Monday. At 10:00 a.m., we will celebrate the baptism of Behlen Lucas into the household of God here at Christ Church Cathedral and give thanks for those in the Cathedral Family who have crossed from this life into the next and who remain with us in witness and prayer. Following worship, we will continue the celebration in a time of fellowship and fun as the kids play in Mardi Gras Park and the adults enjoy special hospitality with oysters lovingly prepared by our own David Brady and his crew.
As we approach next Tuesday’s election, I encourage you to be intentional in your prayers—for peace, for sound government, and for unity and harmony in our life as a nation. The church will be open for prayer and meditation from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Election Day, and the diocesan labyrinth will be available for meditative use in the Chapter House. On this occasion, we turn to the prayer for an election in The Book of Common Prayer: Almighty God, to whom we must account for all our powers and privileges: Guide the people of the United States in the election of officials and representatives; that, by faithful administration and wise laws, the rights of all may be protected and our nation enabled to fulfill your purposes; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Faithfully,
Beverly+
