Christ the King

Writer: Dean GibsonDean Gibson

Dear Cathedral Family,

This Sunday will be the Last Sunday After Pentecost, Christ the King Sunday. We will close out the Church year with remembering and celebrating the One who is the only and truly gracious ruler of all creation, whose promise is ultimately to restore all things now broken, divided, and enslaved. This is the One we serve and worship.

Last Sunday, you heard from Deacon Pratt Paterson about the essential element in our stewardship—service, to each other and to the world. All giving, whether financial or of ourselves, is about service to God’s kingdom. This Sunday, Kennon and Dan Drew will give an update on our 2025 campaign, “Walk in Love,” and they will be encouraging everyone who has not yet made a pledge to do so well before the end of the year. Pledge cards will be in the pews, in case you have not received one in the mail or simply need to go ahead and make your pledge on Sunday. As always, you can make your pledge online.

We will also enjoy our annual Thanksgiving themed altar this Sunday, thanks to Edward Ladd and Saylor Wiley. The work week next week will be a short one as we prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Dean’s Bible Study and Communion of the Simple Presence will not take place on Wednesday, and our offices will be closed that day through the weekend, reopening on Monday, December 2.

I hope you are all enjoying the beauty of creation during this glorious fall weather, and I look forward to being with you on Sunday.

Faithfully,

Beverly+
